This the story of Max, the dog that started this website...

Once upon a time there was a dog named Max who had no tail. So one night his mom decided to give him his very own "Tale" on a web site.

It started out being hosted on AOL (called A Tale For Max - A Dog Lover's Guide To Examples Of Web Design Tips N Tricks) but then AOL messed up by adding their banners and other advertising stuff. Then Max's mom discovered Cafepress.com and Max got his very own online store, A Tale For Max eStore. Soon, Max's mom discovered that Max needed his own domain and so the Tale of Max grew some more. (Note: On 01/30/2010, A Tale For Max eStore was closed due to Max's mom not having enough time to maintain it).

Max was adopted from the Pennsylvania SPCA on March 2, 2002 when he was 7 months old.

He is a gorgeous, boisterous, and very loveable German Shepherd Husky(?) mix and his Mom keeps wondering how anyone could have given him up.

His tail was cut off (a practice known as tail docking) by the time his mom adopted him. For the most part, having no tail doesn't seem to affect Max but sometimes he does lose his balance when he tries to make a sudden quick turn or jump up when he is playing. Having no tail also makes it hard for his mom and her friends to know if he is happy. Unlike with other dogs, people can't see when his tail is wagging unless they look really hard. There are pros and cons to tail docking, but personally Max is against them.

This web site was created to tell the story of Max and is dedicated to all dogs and people who love dogs.

If you are thinking of getting a pet, please adopt one from your local shelter or support the organizations that help rescue abandoned pets.
